Bappa riding Shankha, deep down the sea in peace

Ganesha idol is made from Shadu Clay and painted with natural colors of Haldi, Kumkum and Geru. Idol is 9 inches in height. Decoration is 7ft long, 5ft wide and 7.5ft high. Shankha is made with bamboo, metal wires, newspaper, paper. It is of 4.5ft long and 2ft in diameter. It is painted with natural colors; cornflour starch mixed with coffee. Oysters are also made using wires and papers. Pearls seen in oysters are coconut shells covered with ribbon. Backdrop is hand painted using water colors. It is basically white cloth fixed on wooden frame and then painted like wall painting. Corals and sea plants are drawn to give real feel of deep sea. Stones are made from card sheets and newspapers. Grass is also made from paper. Intentionally only natural things are used for this decoration and no polystyrene (thermocole) or plastic. We also tried to use no lights in the decoration to save the electricity. It is result of good teamwork by Apte family and hard work of almost 3 weeks.
